ETTO'S UNIVERSE

Goal:

Boston-based musician, eTTo, was looking for a unique website to showcase his backstory, performance dates, and upcoming album. The site needed to be attention-grabbing, engaging, and encompass all of the characteristics that made up his music. After he mentioned wanting a space-themed site, I came up with the idea of a personal universe you can explore.

My Role:

  • Illustration
  • Web Design
  • Front-End Development

Typography

Orbitron

Open Sans

Orbitron was chosen because if perfectly conveyed that space-y feel. To keep the futuristic theme going, I chose Open Sans for the body text because of its modern sans-serif look.

Deep turquoise was chosen for the background color to make the page more branded and stylized. Blue was the color eTTo had been using in the past and wanted to keep consistent. There are a number of colors that corrospond to each planet to symbolize the many flavors of his work.

Illustration

Like his music, each planet has it's own features, color, and uniqueness. The spaceship was carefully thought out; the lion/gold originate from his interest in the Ishtar Gate and Chinese food is his favorite. End result: Lion eating white rice in a blue & gold saucer.

Web

The site begins with an animated loading screen that welcomes you after a moment. Animations are used across site in obvious and subtle ways to make it feel engaging, alive, and futuristic. The bottom control panel gives you access to the ship's radio (Soundcloud), GPS (Menu), and other interactive buttons.
